How to grow your hair clientele

If you are trying to grow your clientele, here are are a few things that will automatically draw people to your chair.

Quality Tools

Clients notice and they appreciate quality tools! What you use as a professional is the silent way if saying “this is my quality standard”. Don’t use bent combs that are missing teeth, or brushes that are missing bristles. If you want my recommendations, here are the tools and brushes I swear by.
Clean and Tidy Work

This shows your clients you care. When you’re done applying a root application, clean the hairline. Use a tail comb instead of the back of the colour brush to part your sections, fold foils neatly, create clean sections and parting when cutting. When I was growing my clientele, I made many clients simply from them watching me work meticulously from another stylists chair.

Thorough Consultations

The details matter. When discussing the hair goals for the appointment, also discuss hair and scalp health. Check in on what’s been happening, acknowledge and address client concerns, educate on what you notice, provide recommendations and set goals moving forward.

Finishing Services

At the basin, use a heated towel. It’s such a wonderful little touch that clients love and appreciate, especially in the cooler months. And a good blowout! Nine out of ten clients will appreciate this since it is not something that can easily be recreated at home. Being able to finish with a good blowout has your client leaving with smoother, shinier hair that will last much longer than a simple curling iron style.

Clean Brushes

I cannot express this enough. Clean and sanitize your brushes after EVERY USE. It actually used to make my stomach turn getting my hair done and the stylist brining out a brush with someone else’s hair in it. Keep the brushes clean, sanitized, and ready for each use. This could be the make or break for most clients considering returning to your chair.

Product Recommendations

It’s not about making a sale, it’s about solving an issue. Clients want to know what they need and why they need it. Talk about your product recommendations, how and why it works, and the results they will see. With authentic good product recommendations, you will never feel salsey. Here are the products we recommend in my salon.
